Botox and Dermal Fillers | Wrinkles and Frown Lines

What Is Botox®?

BOTOX® is an FDA-approved treatment to temporarily make moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines look better in adults. The treatment itself requires little to no downtime from work, where you can return almost immediately to normal activities. The procedure delivers predictable, subtle results, so you look like you, only with less noticeable facial lines. You can expect to notice results within 48-72-hours, with full results appearing within 30-days post treatment. Results may last up to 4-months.

What's even better is that BOTOX® is for both men and women and you can begin treatment anytime over the age of 18, however, the treatment may vary based on age and desired outcome.

Patients trust BOTOX® because it is a brand they know and trust. In a recent survey, 62% of respondents say treatment is worth the investment. BOTOX® is backed by more than 16 years of published studies. It uses a unique manufacturing process, and its potency is measured in units that cannot be compared to any other product.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Do you feel younger than you look? Match your look to your energy level with dermal fillers. We use dermal fillers to help our patients put their best face forward, so they feel happier and more self-confident. While you may see commercials for expensive creams and lotions that claim to erase fine lines and wrinkles, the truth is that these products only work before you get wrinkles. Once you see the wrinkles, you must look for another remedy. BOTOX® is a good solution for forehead lines and crow’s feet, while dermal fillers are more appropriate for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and smile lines on your cheeks. Our dentist injects small amounts of dermal filler gel along the line of the wrinkle, filling it in and making it less prominent.

When the body no longer produces collagen, elastin, or hyaluronic acid, lips lose volume over time, becoming thinner and narrower. This is especially true of the top lip. Injections of dermal filler can correct this problem. Our dentist will discuss with you your goals for the fullness of your lips, then place the injections accordingly. Some patients prefer a dramatic look while others want a more natural look. Recovery is different for each patient. Most patients have slight bruising along the injection path that can be easily covered with makeup. You may also experience slight swelling. Both the swelling and the bruising should resolve within a few days to a week.

Before our dentist injects your dermal fillers, we numb the area with an anesthetic cream to make the process more comfortable for you. After your injections, your cheeks, lips, or under-eye area may remain numb for an hour or so. You may want to avoid eating or drinking during this time. • How Do BOTOX® and Dermal Fillers Work?

A combination of factors can cause facial lines. It is not just about the cellular changes that may occur from age, medication, or other health concerns, or reduction of collagen, or issues caused by free radicals from the sun and the environment. Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® works beneath the surface of the skin to temporarily reduce the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults.

  • What To Expect With Treatment

Some patients receiving BOTOX® and dermal fillers reported that the injections feel like a slight pinch. You may begin to notice a visible smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines within 48-72-hours, with full results seen within 30-days, and lasting up to 4-months.

BOTOX® and dermal fillers are not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment, the moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines will gradually return. It is best to speak with us at your next appointment so you can learn more and to plan realistic results and treatment timelines.

  • How Long Is The Recovery Time?

Treatment requires minimal downtime. So, you can return to your daily routine almost immediately after you leave our office.

  • How Many Injections Are Included?

Treatment with BOTOX® and dermal fillers are customized to your needs and desired outcome. When you meet with our dentist, we determine the appropriate treatment for any areas you wish to improve, including moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.

    • For crow’s feet, our dentist injects 3 areas of the muscle that frames the side of the eye. This will be repeated on the muscle that frames the other eye.
    • For frown lines, our dentist administers 5 injections into the muscles between your brows and in your forehead.
    • For forehead lines, our dentist administers up to 5 injections into a muscle in the forehead.

The number of injections will vary depending on the nuber of lines and the patients expected outcome.
